Art Styles
A discussion of my top 5 favorite aesthetics in visual art, with examples.
JOURNALING & BLOGVISUAL ART
January 2nd, 2023
Admittedly, I am still experimenting and haven't exactly decided just what I am doing yet. I created an "infographic" as you can see to your right on the page. (or just below if reading this on mobile.) I have to admit, using this alternative software is streamlining my workflow as compared to my previous endeavors using only Adobe CS5 or CS6 in college. That said, I really haven't begun to create actual content yet. Just dabbling. I need to start somewhere though, right?
I digress. Let's continue writing the post I originally thought I was going to.
Ritual Art
Ritual art refers to art that is created or used in the context of a ritual, which is a prescribed set of actions or procedures that are performed in a ceremonial or symbolic manner. These actions can be religious, cultural, social, or personal in nature, and may involve various elements such as music, dance, speech, objects, or symbols. Ritual art can include a wide range of forms, such as sculpture, painting, performance, and architecture, and can serve various purposes, such as expressing beliefs, marking transitions, or creating a sense of community.
CyberPunk
Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction that focuses on advanced science and technology, particularly artificial intelligence and the internet, in a dystopian or post-apocalyptic setting. It is characterized by a bleak and often lawless world where society is often controlled by powerful corporations or advanced artificial intelligence. Cyberpunk stories often explore themes of social control, transhumanism, and the impact of technology on the human condition. The term "cyberpunk" was coined in the 1980s and has since influenced popular culture through various media, including literature, film, and video games. In my personal work, I have participated in a number of projects which contained elements of the CyberPunk aesthetic, including my former bands: Engelmacher, Espermachine, or Ab5urdum. Pastel Goth
Pastel goth is a subculture that combines elements of the gothic and punk subcultures with a pastel-colored aesthetic. It is characterized by a colorful and often playful appearance that contrasts with the dark and brooding themes typically associated with goth and punk cultures. Pastel goth fashion often includes a mix of dark and pastel colors, as well as other eclectic and unconventional elements such as vintage clothing, oversized garments, and alternative accessories. The pastel goth subculture is known for its creativity, self-expression, and inclusivity, and is often associated with alternative music genres such as electronic, synth-pop, and indie. This would be another aesthetic I have often heard my work categorized in by others. I've also heard it called "candy goth" or "hippy goth". Regardless, I love the contrast created with bright colors and macabre subjects. It just fits me perfectly.
Dark Erotica
Dark erotica is a genre of literature and other media that explores sexual themes and scenarios that are often considered taboo or extreme. It can include elements of BDSM, non-traditional or non-monogamous relationships, and other controversial themes. Dark erotica is often characterized by a focus on power dynamics, psychological manipulation, and intense emotions, and may be intended for an adult audience. It is always important to consider your own boundaries and limits when consuming any form of media, and to engage with it responsibly and with respect for others. To be clear, by "Dark Erotica" I do not mean pornography. It has many elements in common with porn, however, what makes erotica different is the implied themes, and psychological teasing. Although, not for everyone, I very much enjoy fetishism and make no apologies for my tastes.
Mystical Demonic Art
Mystical demonic art is a genre of art that depicts demonic or supernatural beings in a mystical or spiritual context. It may include depictions of demons, monsters, or other malevolent entities from various mythologies and belief systems, as well as artistic representations of the concept of evil itself. Mystical demonic art can take many forms, such as paintings, sculptures, illustrations, or digital art, and may be intended to evoke fear, awe, or other strong emotions in the viewer. This type of art is often associated with dark or horror themes, and may be intended for an adult audience. Perhaps it was the religious abuse that I survived as a child, but I am magnetically drawn to all things demonic in nature. I don't agree that it is necessarily evil, as many would state. I personally believe that all things contain both light and dark, good and evil, heavenly and hellish. That said, there has always been something sublime about the dark realms, and I once again feel no shame in creating, sharing, and admiring Mystical Demonic Artwork as a genre.

IN CONCLUSION
There's not really a point, other than sharing my art and hopefully finding like minded people who enjoy similar aesthetics. Did you enjoy any of the imagery included in this post? Are you interested in seeing more, as well as hearing new music and seeing new videos as I release them?
